Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 8, 2026
Vivid Stories is a service operated by Vivid Labs (“Vivid,” “we,” “us”). Vivid Stories helps you turn your photos into private, shareable stories. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using Vivid Stories you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
We collect the following:
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address, a username, and (if you set one) a display name and profile photo. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google.
- Content you create. The photos, captions, titles, narrative text, and other content you upload to build your stories, along with settings such as whether a story is a draft or published and whether it is private, password-protected, or public.
- Google Photos content you select. If you choose to connect Google Photos, we access only the specific photos you pick through Google's Photos Picker. We never receive access to your full Google Photos library. See Google user data below.
- Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store your full card number; we receive limited billing details and subscription status.
- Usage and device data. Basic information about how you use the service, such as pages viewed, actions taken, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser type, and similar diagnostic data, collected to operate, secure, and improve Vivid Stories.
- Cookies. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
How we use your information
- To provide, maintain, and improve Vivid Stories.
- To create, store, and display the stories and photos you upload.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To process subscriptions and send related transactional messages.
- To respond to your requests and provide support.
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of your photos or stories to serve advertising.
Google user data and Limited Use
When you sign in with Google, we use your name, email address, and profile picture solely to create and manage your Vivid Stories account. When you connect Google Photos, we use Google's Photos Picker so that you select the exact photos you want to bring into a story — we only ever access those selected items, and only to import them into your story.
Vivid Stories' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, we do not use Google user data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not transfer or use it for purposes other than providing or improving the features you requested. Humans do not read this data except with your explicit consent, to comply with applicable law, or as necessary for security (such as investigating abuse).
Who can see your content
You control the visibility of every story. A story can be private (only you), protected by a password you share, or public. Public stories are accessible to anyone with the link and may be indexed by search engines. Please only publish photos and information you are comfortable sharing at the visibility level you choose.
How we share information
We share information only in these situations:
- As you direct. Content you publish or share is visible according to the visibility you set for each story.
- Service providers. We use trusted vendors to run Vivid Stories — for example, hosting and database (Supabase), media storage and delivery (Cloudflare), and payments (Stripe). They process data only on our behalf and under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal and safety. When required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Vivid.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete content or your account, we remove it from the live service and delete it from backups within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records to comply with legal obligations.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You can review and update your account information at any time, change the visibility of your stories, and disconnect Google Photos from your Google Account settings. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. To delete your account and its associated data, see Account deletion. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.
Children's privacy
Vivid Stories is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
International users
We operate in the United States, and your information may be processed and stored there or in other countries where our service providers operate. By using Vivid Stories you consent to this transfer.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of Vivid Stories after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
